Survey of Expressway Customers and Non-Users

In late 2007, members of the Expressway Authority Board requested that a Customer Satisfaction Survey be conducted to identify benchmarks of customer satisfaction perceptions. This is also required by the Florida Transportation Commission.

The 2008 Customer Opinion Survey was conducted by JRD & Associates, Inc. (JRD), between June and July 2008. Two types of customer categories were surveyed: E-PASS users and cash users. Below are a few highlights of the survey.

  • 37% of our customers use the expressway system for business related activities such as commuting and business traveling.
  • For funding roads, E-PASS users choose paying tolls (44.7%) over raising taxes (22.9%)
  • Survey participants agreed that our toll roads are: Faster (95%), Safer (69%), Cleaner (84%), Well-maintained (88%), Adequately Landscaped (86%), and Adequately Signed (91%)

Overall, 91% expressed satisfaction with their overall experiences on our system, exceeding the 90% performance goal set by the Florida Transportation Commission.
